To exchange invoices through the Peppol network, organisations must connect through an access point. An access point is not provided by Peppol itself. It is an independent, certified service that connects systems to the Peppol network.
ABOSS Agency connects to Peppol through Billit. This article explains what an access point is, why ABOSS works with Billit, and how this setup works for clients.

1. Why an access point is required for Peppol
Peppol is a network and protocol for exchanging electronic documents.
It does not provide software or direct connections itself.
To send or receive documents on the Peppol network, organisations must connect through an independent, certified access point.
The access point handles validation, secure transmission, and delivery in the correct format for the receiving party and country.
Without an access point, it is not possible to exchange invoices via Peppol.
We're partnering with Billit (https://www.billit.eu/nl-be/), a certified Peppol access point provider. ABOSS is connected to Billit, and Billit handles the connection to the Peppol network.
2. What Billit is
Billit is an independent, certified access point provider for the Peppol network.
It connects systems to Peppol and handles the technical delivery of electronic invoices.
Billit is not used as an invoicing tool in this setup.
Invoices are created, prepared, and sent from ABOSS. Billit operates in the background to deliver those invoices through the Peppol network.
Clients do not need to work in Billit to use Peppol invoicing via ABOSS.
3. How ABOSS, Billit, and Peppol work together
ABOSS generates invoices with structured invoice data.
Billit receives this invoice data from ABOSS and acts as the access point to the Peppol network.
Peppol routes the invoice to the recipient in the correct format for their system and country.
This separation ensures that ABOSS focuses on invoice creation and workflow, while Billit handles delivery and network compliance.
The first step is to start using the entities module and adjust the templates to the new structure that enables the integration for invoices that need to be sent electronically. Geertje is available to help you until everything is set up correctly.
All invoicing remains the same in ABOSS, but once you want to send an invoice to a recipient connected to the Peppol network, you can send the invoice via Peppol.
The integration is now built, so we can onboard you step by step. Since electronic invoicing becomes mandatory in Belgium from March 2026, we'll leave it to you to decide when is a suitable time to start.
4. Create a Billit account
To connect ABOSS Agency with Billit, a Billit account is required.
If you don’t have a Billit account yet, visit https://www.billit.eu/ to create one.
If you already have a Billit account, you can skip this step and continue with the section below.
The relationship for the Billit account and subscription is directly between you and Billit. As an access point, Billit is fully responsible for the electronic transmission of invoices via the Peppol network.
The pricing information we received from Billit is:
€7.50 per month for up to 25 invoices via the Peppol network.
€25 per month for up to 500 invoices via the Peppol network.
For higher volumes, an enterprise package is available on request.
5. Connect your existing Billit account
If you already have an active Billit account, this account can be reused. ABOSS connects to your existing Billit setup and does not create a new Billit account.
To connect your Billit account with ABOSS Agency, you need to provide your Billit API key and Company ID. Follow the steps in this article to retrieve both values from your Billit account and add them to the correct entity in ABOSS Agency.
