Fixing PDF Display Issues in Google Chrome (Version 68.0.3440.106)

A recent Google Chrome update (Version 68.0.3440.106) has caused issues when opening PDF files in the browser. The file initially opens, but after a few seconds, the page turns blank.

Follow the steps below to resolve this issue.

Table of Contents

  1. Adjusting Chrome Settings

  2. Restarting Google Chrome

1. Adjusting Chrome Settings

  • Open the 'Settings' menu by clicking the three dots in the upper right corner of your browser.

  • In the new window, scroll down and click on 'Advanced'.

  • Scroll further down to the 'System' section.

  • Disable the 'Use hardware acceleration when available' option by toggling the switch.

2. Restarting Google Chrome

  • Completely close your browser and restart it to apply the new settings.

Your PDFs should now open correctly without turning blank after these changes.
